Descripción
Spain has a deep mushroom culture, and these mountains are one of its strongholds. On our guided mushroom outings you learn to read the forest: which pine stand produces níscalos (saffron milk caps), why a mushroom fruits on one slope and not on the opposite one, and how to tell a good edible from its dangerous look-alike.
We forage in three neighbouring territories of the Iberian System: the Alto Tajo (Guadalajara), the Serranía de Cuenca and the Sierra de Albarracín (Teruel).
Practical information
- Duration: about 4 hours.
- Group: 2 to 12 people.
- Season: autumn, from late September to mid-November; spring, from the snowmelt onwards.

- What to bring: walking shoes, warm clothing, a basket and a knife.
- Pick-up: available from your accommodation in our plug-in hybrid van.
Mushrooms fruit one to three weeks after heavy rain, so we do not set dates months in advance: we go out when the forest is ready. Write to us and we will let you know a few days ahead.
Never eat a wild mushroom without checking it with an expert. Correct identification is the forager’s responsibility.
